One of the first things you will have to learn when starting to play poker is which poker hand ranking beats others.
 

When playing poker, you want the highest ranking card combos possible, always try to aim for royal flushes, straight flushes, four of a kinds or full houses, where possible.

 
Poker card ranking number One: Royal Flush

A Royal Flush is ranked first in the poker card ranking list and consists of the following poker cards: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten all of the same suit. Most poker players would kill to get a royal flush!

 
Poker card ranking number Two: Straight Flush

A Straight Flush is ranked second in the poker card ranking list and consist of the following poker cards: Any five card sequence in the same suit. For example, this could be a: Four, Five, Six, Seven, and an 8 card. A straight flush is one of the most coveted poker hands.

A Four of a kind is ranked third in the poker card ranking list and consist of the following poker cards: 4 cards of the same suit or index. For example, this could be: Queen, Queen, Queen, and a Queen. A four of a kind is one of the most coveted poker hands.

A full house is ranked forth in the poker card ranking list and consists of the following poker cards: Three of a kind with a pair. For example, this could be a: KING, KING, Three, Three, and a Three. A full house is one of the most coveted poker hands.

A flush is ranked fifth in the poker card ranking list and consist of the following poker cards: Any five cards of the same suit, but these will not be in sequence.

A straight is ranked sixth in the poker card ranking list and consist of the following poker cards: Five cards in sequence, but not in the same suit.

A two pair is ranked eighth in the poker card ranking list and consist of the following poker cards: Two separate pairs. For example, this could be a: Queen, Queen, Seven, and a Seven.

A pair is ranked ninth in the poker card ranking list and consists of the following poker cards: Any two cards of the same suit or index.

 
Poker card ranking number Ten: High Card

A high card is ranked tenth in the poker card ranking list and consists of a high poker card, but this hand does not contain anything special.
