Champions League Final 2019 Betting Odds

Champions League Final 2019 betting odds

2018/19 has been a season of firsts for English football in Europe. Never before have the finalists of Europe’s two top competitions been from the same country, and each manager competing in the two finals will claim their first trophy for their club.

The 2019 Champions League final sees Liverpool playing Tottenham Hotspur, in a match that will be watched by millions and bet on by millions. We’ve covered all you need to know about the chances each finalist has of winning, so you can decide who to bet on.

Champions League Final  – Sat 1st June 2019

On Saturday the 1st of June 2019, Liverpool and Tottenham play each other in the 64th final of Europe’s premier football competition, the 27th since it was rebranded as the Champions League in 1993.

It’s been a record-breaking season for both clubs and whatever the result, it will be a first Champions League final victory for the winning manager, along with a first major trophy for their current club.

Meet The Teams In The 2019 Champions League Final

This is the second time that two English football teams have squared off in the Champions League final, with the previous seeing Manchester United beat Chelsea on penalties at the end of the 2008/09 season. Liverpool and Spurs played twice in the English Premier League in the 2018/19 season, with Liverpool winning 2-1 each time. Those results may matter little on the 1st of June, as anything can go in a final.

Below are the key team details on the two finalists:

Key Details Of Liverpool

  • Liverpool appear in their ninth final of Europe’s premier club football competition – four as the Champions League and five as the European Cup
  • Liverpool have won the competition five times, their last win was against AC Milan in 2004/05 when they won the game on penalties (3-3 after extra time)
  • Liverpool have lost the competition three times, most recently in 2017/18 when they lost 3-1 to Real Madrid

Key Details Of Tottenham

  • Tottenham’s victory in the UEFA Cup Winners Cup in 1963 made them the first British football team to win a European trophy

Key Odds For Liverpool & Tottenham For The 2019 Final

Both Liverpool and Tottenham have already overcome enormous odds against them in the 2019 Champions League final, particularly in their semi-final second leg matches.

Liverpool faced Barcelona needing to overturn a 3-0 deficit. The odds of Liverpool progressing to the final were 50/1 ahead of the match. Liverpool won 4-0 at Anfield to book their tickets to Madrid.

Tottenham were 1-0 behind to Ajax going into their second leg at the Johan Cruijff Arena. Their odds of making it to Madrid were 5/2 but they won 3-2 on the night to qualify for the final via the away goals.

Chelsea were the last English team to win the Champions League, beating Bayern Munich on penalties at the end of the 2011/12 season – Tottenham start the 2019 final with significantly better odds of winning than Chelsea did in 2012.

The 2018/19 Champions League season has provided plenty of shocks already, with Ajax beating both holders Real Madrid and favourites Juventus before losing to Tottenham in the semi-final. Who will win? History tells us that it won’t always be the team with the best pre-match odds, so think carefully before deciding who to bet on – unless you’re a Liverpool or Tottenham fan!
